Why is fire compartmentation so important?

Fire stopping installations and other means of passive fire protection are by no means a luxury – they are a mandatory design requirement in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This is because even the slightest of cracks in the walls, floors, ceilings and doors of your building will enable smoke to quickly spread and could also accelerate a fire, leading to major structural damage, injury, or even loss of life.

All service penetrations in walls and floors need to be sealed with approved firestop products to slow both the smoke and fire’s journey and allow for the safe evacuation of people and assets in the event of an emergency.

By working in close partnership with market leaders, we can enlist the help of their technical support teams should we need any assistance with determining solutions to manage risk and prevent fire, smoke and toxic gases from reaching other parts of the building quickly.

When should you call our fire stopping contractors?

As the owner or manager of a commercial and public sector premises, it’s your responsibility to make sure your property is fire safe.

It’s not up to your refurbishment company or facilities management team to make sure everything is in order – the responsibility is yours, and yours alone!

So, if you suspect that your penetrations and walls are not sealed correctly; that your previous fire stopping works have not been carried out correctly; and/or your workspace does not have a suitable fire protection strategy in place, speak to us to arrange an onsite survey.

We’ll identify any issues, make clear recommendations as to how to fix them, and deliver peace of mind that your building is fire compliant.
